Penang, Malaysia - part 3 of 3

Penang Botanic Gardens
This is Day 4 of the Penang trip. We started with the Botanic Gardens. This is the choice over the Penang National Park.
The water lily on the Google Maps (or in the begining of the blog) may mislead you. It is about a foot wide. Not something a person can sleep on it! However, the tree with strange branches is scary (below). Apparently there are a lot of wild plants in the garden.

You may see monkeys along the road. Be sure not to hold any food as they could snatch it.
There are also greenhouses, some opened to the public, some reserved.
If the paved road is not enough (about an hour walk), there is a trail called Curtis Trail, named after the curator Charles Curtis. It's close to noon time, we decide to check out the nearby Gurney Plaza.

It is a big shopping mall. All shopping malls have food courts. We have lunch at the Little Nyonya.
Nyonya cendol, coffee and green tea, Dry prawn mee and seafood fried rice
After the break, we finally have the courage to try the coconut stand.
This is the guy that serve us. 5RM a piece.
There are still places we have not visited. We decided to see the Goddess of Mercy Temple (觀音廟)
Right next to it is an Hindu Temple. A mosque is a distance. This is what Malay people call harmony of different religious beliefs.
Another design I check is the rooftop. According to the guidebook, different shape symbolizes different element (金木水火土). Suddenly an afternoon thunderstorm cover the area. We were taking shelter in a ATM kisko. Ended up calling the grab back to the hotel.
Dinner is in an Arabic resturant nearby. This is new. The checken soup is creamy and tasty. But the olive salad is not our style. The appertiser sampler and grill are too much.
Continue the journey on the next blog where we travel to Kuala Lumpur by train.
