Traveling West Malaysia, part 3 of 3

Jamek Mosque

Today's plan is to tour around the area we stayed. Started with the Indian food for breakfast. Although TG's Bistro open 24 hours, some items on the menu are not available before 11AM. We have their breakfast set A and D, one with eggs the other with potatos on the bread.
1st stop Jamek Mosque, 1.3km from the hotel. The full name is Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque. This is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur, situated at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers (as shown in the begining). The rivers are very dirty (from my view). At least not smelly. To tour inside, men need to wear long pants, females need to cover their arms and head. The entrance store provides that if you need.

The next stop is the Independence Square. It's right next to the Jamek Mosque. These are all hugh areas and structures. Under the tropical sun, you may easily lost the direction. We missed the St. Mary's Cathedral. It is on one end of the square. We ended up with the Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, which is the main library of Kuala Lumpur on the opposite side of the square.

The square is one of the main attraction in Kuala Lumpur. However, be prepared for the sun becuase there is not much shade. Don't get burn out. There are hugh structures around the area. The National Textiles Museum is one, but we didn't visit. Sultan Abdul Samad ibni Raja Abdullah was the fourth Sultan of Selangor, reigning from 1857 to 1898. During his rule, Kuala Lumpur transitioned from a small mining settlement to a major administrative and commercial center. Many of the early and important buildings were constructed during this time. Naming structures after him was a way of honoring his contributions to the states growth.

Next stop is National Museum of Malaysia. I thought we could cut through the Botanical Gardens. But it is not as straightforward as I thought. We stop by the National Mosque of Malaysia first, didn't go in.

Then the gardens. Taman means garden. Botani indicates a focus on plants. Perdana means prime. So Taman Botani Perdana means Prime Botanical Garden.

Finally the national museum, Muzium Negara.

The entrance fee is 5RM per person for Muzium Negara. This is a public museum dedicated to Malaysian art, culture, and history. It is a three-story structure with four main galleries. Link to the official website here. There isn't much food selection around. So we headed back to hotel and have what we missed in TG's Bistro this morning, the tallest roti tissue. There are three flavors, original, ? and honey. It is made of sweet milk. Very crispy and fancy. Most tourists did not finish it. They just want to take pictures.
roti tissue is about 20 inches long

After break, we went to the Pavilion. This is a large shopping area.
Look like all the malls have the center stage owned by the Chinese smartphone vendors.
We found Kedai Kopitiam (華揚) here. In Penang, the line is too long so we skipped. Now is the time to get in the line.
Next day, we have the breakfast in a local noodle shop across the street from the hotel.
15RM total
After picking up the local spices for soup stew, we Grab to the KL sentral, take the KLIA express train to the airport. This concludes our traveling to the West Malaysia. What a journey!
